Scouting For Girls gig review

I seem to be out and about a little bit lately but last night I was lucky enough to get the chance to indulge in a little nostalgia and attend a Scouting for Girls concert at the 02 Academy in Sheffield.

It’s a great venue with a relatively intimate setup which means that no matter where you’re stood you get a really good view of the stage. Due to delayed trains we arrived a little late but still got a really good spot

what really got me about this band was the real feel good atmosphere they created. Roy Stride the lead singer had a full wattage smile on his face the whole time and engaged and interacted with the crowd on a number of occasions.

Fans of the older albums weren’t disapointed as they played some of their classic tunes like ‘She’s so Lovely’ ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Elvis isn’t dead’ along with songs from their new album including their Christmas jingle ‘Christmas in the air (tonight)’ for which they wore funky Christmas jumpers and encouraged their fans to help them to Christmas number one.
No fear needed if you hadn’t had chance to listen to the new album, the band for everyone involved by learning them the chorus lyrics beforehand and encouraging the audience to sing along, clap, dance and jump. It was an uplifting and upbeat atmosphere emphasised by the intimate setting of the venue.
There is something incredibly wholesome about about this band and what they stand for. I came out of the venue feeling uplifted and happy after a good boogie and sing along. As soon as I got home I was adding the new album to my Spotify playlist as well.
5/5 for entertainment if you haven’t seen them already make sure you do!
